HEALTH NUT FOOD LIST
Grains
- Food for Life Exekiel 4:9 Bread (This is a great brand because all of their grains are sprouted and therefore it digests in your body like vegetables!!!!!!) Go to trader joes for this but keep it in the freezer once you get it home.
- Food for Life Brown Rice Bread (This is a gluten free bread with VERY FEW ingredients. The least amount of ingredients the better)
- 100 % whole grain Quinoa (This is the highest protein grain and is FULL of all the essential amino acids and is a SUPERFOOD) Oh and you can also eat quinoa as a breakfast food by adding honey and fruit and some almond milk. Sooo Yummy.
-If you are looking for Cheaper cereal go to Trader Joes and search for
HIGH fiber cereals with a low amount of sugar!!
- Oatmeal. Steel Cut oatmeal is the bomb. Stay away from pre-packaged flavored oatmeal and flavor yours with some berries, cinnamon, and or a little bit of almond butter. Yummy.
- Latorilla Factory’s smart & delicious tortillas high fibar and Low and Carb. You can get these at most grocery stores!
I cant help it! I love grains. I just do. So you can eat them but the way to do it is eating the healthiest and most digestible kinds. Stay away from white flours. Hint if it does not say 100% whole wheat and has a ton of ingredients you don’t recognize it is best to move on down that isle.
Dairy(and my healthier non-dairy substitutes)
- “Cheese. Hate to break it to you but in my opinion there is no good option except for soy based intimator cheese. Pasturized dairy is typically very hard for our bodies to process and therefore sticks on those hips and arms and stomachs. “ The only dairy i really recommend is “Raw Dairy”
- Fage Greek yogurt is the best yogurt you can get. Very high in protein. Trader Joes has this.
- Almond Breeze’s Unsweetened Vanilla almond milk. I am a huge fan! At grocery stores in the health food section. I get mine at Trader joes in bulk
- Veganaise (my substitute of mayo.) It is WAY healthier, lower in fat and digests better. (can be found at whole foods) http://www.followyourheart.com/vegenaise.html
-Earth Balance (vegan and expeller pressesed margarine) You will not notice the difference! Found at Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and the Turnip Truck.
*A simple way to get calcium is by including the following foods: Fortified grains, mustard greens, cabbage, chickpeas, broccoli, red beans, soybeans, seaweed
Protein
PROTEIN
-Tempeh -fermented soybean cake used as a protein. Tempeh can be stewed, marinated, broiled, fried and baked.
-Tofu – I would buy the xtra firm. Learn how to cook it online http://www.cooking-solutions.com/tofulesson.html
-Salmon – Rich in Omega 3 fatty acids. (if you order at a restaurant ask them to leave off the butter and creamy sauce)
-Lean Chicken – I don’t really eat any chicken that is not organic and free range. So if you are gonna do it buy the best)
-Turkey– (make sure again that you buy lean all-natural, low sodium turkey)
-Nuts – Almonds or Almond butter, Brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds, natural peanut butter
-Beans – Black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas
-Edamome
